League leaders →

Composite scores

Headline summary numbers that combine many inputs into a single tier-able rating.

Stripe Score

0–100 ref quality composite. Combines core rates, consistency, leverage, gap rhythm, discipline, and home cooking. Tier-mapped on the leaderboard.

Consistency Index

How predictable a ref's calls are vs. their own per-60 baseline. Lower = more consistent.

Discipline Rating

Misconducts + bench minors per 60. Captures how often a ref reaches for the heavy hammer.

Home Cooking Coefficient

Pattern of home-vs-road call rates. League average ≈ 0; positive = home call rate exceeds road, negative = the reverse.

Leverage Grade

A+ → D ranking of how much a ref's call rate shifts in OT and playoff games vs their regulation baseline.

Core rates

The plain-English per-60 numbers. Foundation for every higher-level stat.

Penalties Per 60

Total penalties called / games. Denominator is games (not raw ice time) because OT is rare.

Per-call-type rates

17 canonical call types each tracked per-60 with league percentile (Tripping, Hooking, Holding, …).

Penalties Taken / 60

Player metric. How often this skater gets whistled per 60 minutes of ice time.

Penalties Drawn / 60

Player metric. How often this skater draws calls per 60 minutes of ice time.

Temporal patterns

When does this ref reach for their whistle within a game? Drift, density, suppression.

First Penalty Timing

Average game time of a ref's first P1 call. Earlier = more proactive game-setting.

Gap Between Calls

Average seconds between consecutive calls in a game. Drives Gap Rhythm.

Gap Rhythm

STDDEV of gap times. Lower = steady cadence; higher = bursty calling.

Penalty Density by Period

Per-60 split across P1 / P2 / P3 / OT. Shows whether a ref tightens or loosens late.

Late-Period Suppression

How much call volume drops in the final 5 minutes of regulation vs the rest of the game.

Power Play Chain Rate

How often a ref carries successive PP calls vs a single one. Captures escalation behavior.

First / Final 5-Minute Delta

Per-60 difference between opening and closing 5 minutes of each period.

OT Call Rate

Penalties per 60 in overtime. OT is rarely whistled across the league; high values stand out.

Situational splits

Calls by score state and game leverage — does this ref tighten in close games?

Score-State Calling

Per-60 split across tied / one-goal / blowout game states.

One-Goal Game Suppression

How much calling drops in P3 of one-goal games vs the league baseline.

Make-Up Window Rate

Share of penalties followed by a cross-team penalty within 10 minutes — captures perceived 'evening out'.

Crunch-Time Discipline

Player metric. Penalties taken in 3rd/OT, last 5 min, ≤ 1-goal games — per game played. Higher = worse late-game discipline.

Player-context calling

How does a ref treat star forwards vs depth players, captains vs rookies?

High-TOI vs Low-TOI Call Ratio

Penalty rate on STAR / TOP-6 players vs depth players, normalized for ice time.

TOI Tier

Position-aware tier the player rolls up to: Forward STAR / TOP 6 / MIDDLE 6 / DEPTH / 4th, Defense Top / Middle / Bottom Pair, Goalie Star / Starter / 1A / 1B / Backup / 3rd / Rookie.

Ref Affinity Δ (taken)

How a specific ref's per-60 taken rate on this player differs from the player's own league baseline.

Ref Affinity Δ (drawn)

How a specific ref's per-60 drawn rate for this player differs from baseline.

Team-level officiating

How a team has been officiated — who works them most, who has the largest positive vs negative penalty differential.

Penalty Differential vs Team

PF − PA across all of a ref's games with this team. Positive = team drew more than they took under this ref.

PP Opportunities Differential

PP opportunities for the team − against. Closely tracks penalty differential but isolated to power-play exposure.

Most Favorable / Unfavorable Refs

Ranked lists scoped per team based on cumulative differential, sample-filtered.

Home / Road Differential (team)

How much a team's penalty profile shifts at home vs on the road.

Team Discipline Index

Team's overall composite of misconducts / fights / late-game escalation behaviors.

Team Call-Type Profile

Top types this team takes and draws, with league baselines for context.

Coach challenges

Off-ice judgment calls and how each ref's reviews resolve.

Coach Challenge Record (ref)

Per-ref upheld / overturned counts on coach challenges, scoped to the active season.

Framing & sample minimums

How we present numbers and when we mark them as small-sample.

Sample minimums

Per-stat thresholds below which we still display the number but flag it as small-sample.

Framing rules

Voice and presentation conventions — sober, analytical, hockey-literate, no speculation about intent.
